| CITY OF KISSIMMEE PROVIDES LIVE COVERAGE OF COMMISSION MEETINGS
KISSIMMEE, Fla. (May 7, 2009)—The City of Kissimmee has expanded the broadcast capability of Access Osceola TV. The government and education channel, which broadcasts on Bright House channel 199, is now available online via streaming video.
Visit the City’s Web site at and click on the streaming video link on the Home page. This will enable Web visitors to watch the channel, which is simulcast in real time.
Kissimmee City Commission meetings will also be streamed live on Tuesdays at 6:00 p.m., with the exception of the fourth Tuesday of the month, which is reserved for Commission Workshops.
Archived videos of the 2009 City Commission meetings are arranged by date and available On-Demand. Click on the streaming video link on the Home, Commission Agenda or Minutes pages of the City’s Web site to access the archived meeting files.
“Streaming video is the current trend being utilized by many municipal governments. The City views this as an opportunity to make the channel available to citizens who did not have the ability to watch Access Osceola as a result of having basic cable or satellite service. This will serve as another option to keep the public informed,” said Carla Banks the City’s manager of communications and public information.
The streaming video technology is made possible by collaboration between the City’s Public Information Office and Information Technology Department.
